Francisco Alexandre Abreu Pessegueiro de Miranda
was born in Porto in 1949. He studied Painting and holds a degree in Architecture from the Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto (Higher Institute of Fine Arts of Porto).


As from 1967 onwards, he has held 30 Individual Exhibitions in Portugal and Abroad, of which the most recent are:

He is represented in several national and foreign collections, both public and private.

He has accomplished projects in Public Art like, for example:

1994, Ceramic panels in the tunnel of the "Via Rápida" in Porto;

2000, Murals in engraved marble with digitized images, Universidade Portucalense, in Porto;

2003, Plastic Action in the Ponte da Pedra Urbanisation, in collaboration with the Painter Alfredo Barros.

He is the author of an extensive collection of graphic works (serigraphs and lithographs).

He is the author of texts on art theory and criticism, and was correspondent of the Institut Supérieur pour l’Etude du Langage Plastique (Brussels) for the "Arte Pública" in Portugal.

He also works professionally as an architect and as a teacher.

He is the President of the Executive Board of the Associação de Professores de Desenho e Geometria Descritiva – APROGED (Association of Teachers of Drawing and Descriptive Geometry).

He was awarded the "Grande Prémio de Arte Filatélica em Portugal/93" (Grand Prize in Philatelic Art in Portugal/93) and the Bronze Medal at the "Salon 94" (Societé des Artistes Français).
